Genesis 1-4 2019-2-6 Scott Pio Feb 06, 2019 Christianity share Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Email Share... Reading Gen 1-9 Gen 1 1.3 Let there be light. - Does God not know light before he creates it? 1.28 We are to subdue. What would be around if we were not? 1.29 Every Tree and seed in its fruit has been given to eat. 1.30 I have given every green plant for food. Since there was no death, we ate plants instead of animals at this point? General When speaking according "to its kind", he doesn't speak to species. Gen 2 2.2 God Rested. - If God is eternal, why does he need to rest? 2.7 The Lord formed man from dust in the ground. - Why doesn't he form woman from dust, rather creates her from Adams Rib. It was from dust, meaning that the Garden was created from dust. So the garden was created from dust after Adam. 2.9 There are two trees. Tree of Life Tree of knowledge of good and evil 2.10 Four rivers came from the Garden of Eden. Tigris Euphrates Gihon Pishon 2.15 Adam would work the garden and keep it. 2.17 The tree of knowledge, Adam was commanded not to eat. 2.18 God made for Adam a helper. A helper could also be he equal, not his underling. Look back at 1.31, where God creates everything and then said it was Good. So woman was included in that everything. 2.24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and "hold fast" to his wife. Why use the phrase "hold fast"? They shall become one flesh. General God put Man in the Garden of Eden with him and the holy spirit. See 1.26 So this means God must have wanted man to be in friendship with man. Gen 3 3.1 Did God say you shall not eat from any tree in the garden? Just 2 trees you shall not eat. 3.5 The serpent tells Eve that she shall be like God if she eats from the Tree of Knowledge. 3.6 Eve saw the tree was desired to make one wise. She took of the fruit and ate it, then she gave some to Adam.... So this must mean that there was some moments or a brief period of time between eating and knowing sin. 3.8 The Lord God was Walking. - So the Lord God was in human form of some sort? 3.10 Adam says he was afraid. 3.14 God is speaking to the serpent. Is the serpent subhuman since it talks? The Serpent is cursed above all livestock. What is the curse of the serpent? The serpent goes onto his belly and eats dust. 3.15 I will put enmity between your offspring and the woman's offspring. HE shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise HIS heel. First notice of the gospel in the Bible. How does this reference Jesus? "God" I will put enmity between you "Satan" and the Woman "Eve". And between your "Satan" offspring and her "Eve" offspring. He "Jesus" shall bruise "crush" your "Satan" head and you "Satan" shall bruise his "Jesus" heel. 3.16 I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing God says to the woman. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband. Your husband shall rule over you. 3.17 You shall not eat of the tree he says to Adam. God curses the Ground because Adam eats from the tree. The ground is in pain and you shall eat from it. 3.18 Thorns and Thistles it shall bring forth to you. 3.19 By the sweat of your face. God makes Adam work for his food now. Till he returns to the ground. From dust you came, to dust you shall return. 3.21 God made the garments for Adam and Eve. God sheds blood from animal skin. First shedding of blood in Genesis. 3.22 Behold, God says the man has become like one of us. He doesn't want Adam to eat from the tree of life, or he will live forever in Sin. Therefore God sent him out from the garden so that he didn't live forever in Sin. Rather he would allow man to have a relationship with him again, when Jesus comes. Grace through Jesus allows for our relationship with God continue. Gen 4. 4.1 Adam knew his wife and she conceived. Cain was the first born. 4.2 Abel was the second born. Abel was the keeper of the sheep. Cain was the worker of the ground. Its what he knew and loved. 4.4 Abel and Cain brought forth offerings. Lord liked Abels offering better than Cain. Why did Lord like Abels better? 4.5 Cain becomes Angry because of 4.4 Showing emotional distress. 4.7 Lord tells Cain that if he does well, will he not be accepted? If Cain doesn't do well, then sin is crouching at the door. You must rule over sin, since its desire is for you. 4.8 Cain kills Abel. 4.10 God knows the voice of Abels blood. Does his blood speak? Life is important to God. He is who sustains it. Its not for anyone else to take, or God will know. Life is important. Sin causes death. God hates sin, for he is perfect. 4.12 When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield to you its strength. This was Cains LOVE. He wanted to work the ground from 4.2. To take this away is heartbreaking. 4.17 Cain knew his wife. Which was also his sister from Adam and Eve. How could Cain marry his sister? Cain and his wife both come from Adam and Eve. Perfect DNA. So there were no problems with it. Its only the farther away our generations go from Adam, do our DNA deteriorate. So they get worse over time. 4.10 - 4.24 This is Cain's lineage. This is one storyline. 4.25 This continues the store where Abel was killed by Cain.
